Zigzag Cowl

Worsted Weight Cowl Knitting Pattern

A woman with long blonde hair, wearing a brown jacket and a chunky grey worsted weight cowl knitting pattern scarf, stands in front of a brick wall, looking slightly to the right with a soft smile.
A woman wearing a grey knit beanie, a green striped sweater, and a worsted weight cowl knitting pattern scarf with matching purple mittens sits on rocks at a sandy beach, looking thoughtfully into the distance.

I designed this worsted weight cowl knitting pattern for the Erika Knight yarn collection in 2012. Erika liked my Zigzag hat and asked me if I would like to design a matching cowl and mittens to help promote the yarn. The design is worked in the round on circular needles and uses a combination of knit and purl stitches. The yarn is super smooshy and warm and lends itself well to the chevron pattern, which knits up easy and feels like a warm hug!
