Welcome!

I’m Faye and I’m a technical editor and knitwear designer based in Bristol UK. I’ve been tech editing since 2013 and I work with clients all over the world, helping them take their patterns to the next level.
My own designs are largely patterns that I enjoy to knit myself.
I love working lace and twisted cables and creating projects that allow me to indulge myself on single skeins of hand dyed yarn. I am a big fan of socks, hats and currently, sleeveless tops.
Beyond editing and pattern writing, I provide tailored consultations for other designers eager to enhance their patterns or delve into innovative techniques.
I have worked with Faye for more than 10 years. As a tech editor she will always go the extra mile to ensure the patterns she works on are accurate, concise, and easy to understand.
Faye has an extensive knowledge of garment construction, stitch pattern mechanics, and both traditional and innovative knitting techniques. Her own designs have an elegant simplicity to them that comes from a deep understanding of what knitters enjoy making most, eschewing unnecessary fussiness wherever possible.

About Me

I’ve been knitting since around 2007. I initially learned as a child and then picked it up again in my early twenties. I got the bug and would often be found alone in my room knitting different swatches, rather than going out socialising with my housemates. I was also studying dressmaking and pattern cutting, so I had an idea of how garments were constructed. I soon started modifying designs and writing my own patterns.
In 2013 I was offered the position of Technical Editor for The Knitter and Simply Knitting magazines, where I was lucky enough to receive on-the-job training. After 8 years, a pandemic and pregnant with my second child, I left the job to go freelance as I wanted to expand the range of designers, publications and yarn companies I worked with and find a better work/life balance.
Being a technical editor and designer really makes my brain tick.
I love finding solutions to problems and I’m excited to spend my working life surrounded by yarn, in conversation with inspiring people, constantly improving my technical skills and learning new tricks, which inspire my own creations.
