These top down socks are perfect if you’re familiar with sock knitting and would like to have a go at something more interesting. Each sock features a lace panel on the outside edge, which is small in width and the lace stitches are only worked every other row. This makes the sock pattern a breeze to work as the rows in between are just knit.

I’ve used an Eye of Partridge heel on Blisland but you could switch for a regular slip stitch heel if you like.

At the heel the stitches are divided so the lace panel is split down the front and back of the sock. The front section continues down to the toes and the back section disappears into the heel flap. When you get to here the sock becomes even faster to knit, especially as you will be decreasing stitches for the gusset.

I would recommend these socks to beginners and experienced sock knitters alike, as long as you are confident enough to try the small lace panel. I feel the pattern is well enough explained that if you have never knitted socks before, you will be walked through it. Turning the heel puts a lot of people off beginning sock knitting however it is really quite magical every time it happens! If you are familiar with lace but have yet to work socks then maybe this is your chance!
