Porthkerris is my newest DK knit sweater pattern and I haven’t managed to take it off!

I’ve worked this sample in West Yorkshire Spinners The Croft DK, which I’d been keen to try for a while. The results are really squooshy and I can imagine this top lasting me a good while yet. It’s even comfortable without a top on underneath, just really temperature regulating and not at all itchy. 

The jumper is worked from the bottom up in the round, then split at the armholes where it is worked back and forth to the shoulders, which are then cast off together using a three needle bind off. The sleeves are then picked up and worked down to the cuff.

The pattern is written and charted, however I would say it is easier to work from the chart as the stitch pattern is quite a large repeat. As you’ll be increasing in pattern it really helps to have the visual from the chart to see which stitch is up next. 

I’ve used fully fashioned shaping around the neck to give that crisp finish, and the neckband and sleeves are both cast off using a tubular cast off. 

Although the stitch pattern is fairly straightforward in this pattern, I wouldn’t recommend it to beginners as you’ll need to be comfortable with increasing stitches into pattern and working neck shaping at the same time. However intermediate and advanced knitters should enjoy the flow of a simple pattern with those little extras to keep their brain busy.
