About Me

Hi, I’m Faye! I initially learned to knit as a child and then picked it up properly in my early twenties. I would often be found alone in my room knitting different swatches, rather than going out socialising with my housemates. I went on to study dressmaking and pattern cutting, which gave me a starting knowledge of garment construction. Before long I was modifying knitting patterns and began blogging and publishing my own designs in 2010, whilst working full time as a graphic designer.
I became the Technical Editor for The Knitter and Simply Knitting magazines in 2013 and I had fantastic mentor. I was soon checking up to 50 patterns per month, 5 days a week across the two magazines and freelance for private clients in my free time.
After 8 years, a pandemic and pregnant with my second child, I left my publishing job so I could expand the range of designers, publications and companies I worked with, get my design mojo back and find a better work/life balance. I continue to be part of a community of tech editors to keep my knowledge up to date in this ever evolving industry.
Being a technical editor and designer really makes my brain tick. I love finding solutions to problems and I’m excited to spend my working life surrounded by yarn, in conversation with inspiring people, constantly improving my technical skills and learning new tricks!
